Automatic sprinkler systems are installed in the buildings to immediately take action when the fire is small. The automatic sprinkler systems have sensors and are connected to a high pressure water system. When the sensors detect fire or smoke, the heads of the sprinklers are opened and the water is sprinkled to control the fire. The automatic sprinklers are not very efficient in extinguishing the fires completely hence they are used to contain the fire until the firefighting teams reach.
